The Potters Cabin – Woodstock

Date: 19.09.2013 | Case Studies

Rachel has asked me to write a little about myself having started up a pottery painting studio after attending one of her brilliant courses.

With a background in tax and then teaching Psychology since 1995 this venture was pretty new. However, variety is the spice of life so they say and not one to shy away from new opportunities and having spent nearly two decades in teaching I felt the time was right for a change.

The idea was but a seed planted by my son-in-law on a family holiday near Woodstcck where on a rainy day 7 of us spent a relaxing couple of hours painting mugs, plates and my grandson and granddaughters handprints on a vase. ‘You lot could do this’ he said to my two daughters and myself. I promptly forgot about it but my daughter didn’t and on return from holiday she found that Rachel offered a skills and business advice course so the idea began to grow and we booked ourselves in. Well, the idea took on its own momentum and before you know it I was preparing business plans and talking to the bank manager and looking for premises:

And so here we are after the first firing!

Rachel has been a rock, always at the end of the phone for advice and wonderful for supplying those special pieces to paint at short notice.

Hopefully we will go from strength to strength as more and more people enjoy out pottery painting experience, coffee and cake…
